With an intense flavour and fruity green colour, agoureleo or "early harvest" is the freshest olive oil around.
What is it?
Agoureleo comes from the pressing of unripe olives and has a stronger and fruitier flavour than other olive oils. It also has a more intense, bright green colour.
When is the Season?
The olives are harvested early, usually between October and November, depending on the region and season. The resulting oil hits the market in mid to late November up to early February.
Why does Early Harvest Cost more than other EVOOS?
Phileos' Agoureleo costs more than our other Extra virgin Olive Oil products becasue it requires double the amount of olives and labour to manufacture one bottle of 500ml Early Harvest as opposed to a 500ml EVOO. It is packed full of polyphenols which are strong antioxidants. Europeans consider Agoureleo a first quality premium extra virgin unripe olive oil
Cooking Applications for Early-Harvest
Normally used raw, it really stands out when used:
- in all salads, especially simple ones with one or two ingredients to really showcase its taste.
- on grilled meat - it makes a great condiment for grilled beef steaks and fillets, especially if combined with coarse salt and freshly ground pepper. The same goes for chicken fillets.
- with toasted bread: the simplest way to enjoy a good green olive oil is to drizzle it over toasted bread. You can enhance the taste by adding crushed garlic, salt and spices of your choice.
- raw after cooking. Add a dash of green olive oil to casseroles, pasta with red sauce, beans and risotto (particularly those with seafood) at the end to boost flavours.
- with white cheese: Pour a little green olive oil on to white cheeses or spicy cheese dip and sprinkle with oregano, thyme, marjoram or mint. It also adds flavour to tzatziki.
- It also goes very well with grilled seafood such as shrimp. Simply drizzle over the shrimp before serving.
Phileos controls the entire process from branch to bottle ensuring the highest standards in the manufacturing process. Our own internationally recognised world-class bottler guarantees the fresh quality of our Early Harvest at all times, bottling our EVOO at source and when ready for shipment!
The brands that claim to be "Early Harvest" in Canada and all of North America for that matter purchase their oil from a patchwork of suppliers, repackage and bottle it in Canada and then sell it as their own oil. We would never do this. These same companies come to us in search off olive oil. The whole process is used by the resellers of oil is just wrong! Therefore, consumers of Phileos Ultra Premium EVOO can always remain confident that they are buying the freshest and highest quality product on the market today.
